Sustainability
This page aims to be as transparent as possible about how Community in print operates. As a business it is working towards becoming carbon neutral with the aim, if possible, to reach carbon positive status.
Prints
Sustainability involves all aspects of the supply chain and priorities resources that the business already owns over purchasing new supplies. When supplies are purchased they are with sustainability in mind and are from eco conscious suppliers. This includes the use of recycled paper and traditional non-toxic printing ink.
Prints are available for pre-order and on limited print runs to reduce waste and ensure the products sold are not over manufactured.
Packaging and shipping
All artwork is sent plastic free and shipped second class to reduce the pressure on the postal service. Packaging is also reused as much as possible, and when not possible eco conscious suppliers are chosen. No glue or cellotape is used to seal packaging. Biodegradable paper tape is used instead.
Prints are also posted in batches to reduce emissions, and are posted using local postal services, travelled to by foot.
Workshops
Where possible all supplies are plastic free and prioritise the reusing of existing art materials. Venues are selected with sustainability in mind alongside accessibility needs. Participants are encouraged to attend by foot or using public transport, but this is not always possible.
Carbon offsetting
It is not possible to become carbon neutral without carbon offsetting as there are inevitable emissions in the production of material goods. While carbon offsetting is not the solution to climate change it is a useful tool in helping to balance out the carbon produced through this business. Partnering with Carbon Neutral Britain I am working towards becoming a certified carbon neutral small business.
