Equality, diversity and inclusion rep for Engage UK

I am really excited to be the Equality, diversity and inclusion rep for Engage, the National Association for Gallery Education, considering how we can make the arts culture within the UK a more diverse and welcoming space for those who work and interact with art institutions and galleries.

Today I had the pleasure to be at Harbour House Gallery and Wellness Centre, at the South West Engage meet-up, talking about the role and what I hope to achieve. Providing consultancy and speaking events is something Community in print is really grateful to offer, to partner with other arts organisations to think about how arts and culture can work intersectionally for increased diversity and inclusion, and for a holistic integration of sustainability principles into arts programming.

I also got to see the lovely The Bird and the Rhino exhibition, which was a great example of community engaged social practice, including communities within the creation of the exhibit. Artists Ellie Robinson- Carter, Sam Machell and Jodie Saunders co-created such lovely outcomes. I particularly loved the interactive aspects that invited you to go outside with a camera and add your own photo to the exhibit.
