Launching Plymouth’s lino-printing club!
So over the past four years of running countless lino-printing workshops, one thing I find participants asking is, what can I do next?
Even as a creative, I find it really difficult to keep up a regular print-making practice, when emails and general life getting in the way. But one of the easiest thing I find to carve out space for what matters to me, is having a dedicated time slot for it.
And so for the past six months I have been busy planning out launching Plymouth’s monthly lino-printing club. Every third thursday of the month, come down to the lovely Sappho’s cafe, and find a welcoming community and a dedicated space to hone your print-making craft with.
I will provide all the necessary kit, just bring your lino-project (and your own lino) and be away!
What is the lino-printing club?
This isn’t a structured workshop where you’ll follow a set lesson plan. Instead, it’s a dedicated, regular sanctuary for printmakers of all levels.
Starting from August, every third Thursday of the month, we will be taking over the lovely, cozy space at Sappho’s Cafe. It’s designed to be a warm, welcoming community hub where you can escape the distractions of home, meet fellow creatives, and find the focus you need to hone your print-making craft.
How does it work?
I wanted to make joining the club as seamless and stress-free as possible. The biggest barrier to printing at home is often the mess and the amount of gear you need to pull out. So, I’m taking care of the heavy lifting.
What I provide: All the necessary workshop kit. I’ll bring the rollers, the carving tools, a vibrant selection of inks, inking plates, and safe cleanup supplies.
What you bring: Just your wonderful ideas and your own lino blocks to carve!
Whether you’re working on a detailed reduction print, carving a series of stamps, or just need a block of uninterrupted time to finally finish a project you started months ago, this space is for you. You get all the perks of a fully equipped print studio, combined with the relaxed, social atmosphere of a local cafe.
Come and join us!
Creative practices thrive when they are shared. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to get back into printmaking, want to hang out with a lovely group of like-minded people, or simply need to force yourself to take two hours out of your busy month just for you, I would love to see you there!
Spaces at Sappho's are limited to ensure everyone has plenty of room to roll out their ink, so be sure to secure your spot early.
