Celebrating Spring

A series of outdoor creative workshops to connect people to nature, the local trees and the creatures that call them home.

In partnership with Plymouth Urban Tree Festival.

Wider context

In a busy world it can be difficult to stop, slow down, and connect to nature. These workshops helped people notice the changing season and celebrate what Spring means to them! This fostered social connection and engaged citizen’s with the natural spaces around where they live, offering an accessible means to engage with their local landscape through creativity.

The project in detail

These workshops aimed to connect people to the changing seasons and the local landscape by providing guided tours of the natural areas of Plymouth, and facilitating different methods of capturing these scenes in a sketchbook.

A variety of materials were on offer and people could experiment with different mediums and see how these different forms captured the qualities of the trees in different ways.

One of the key takeaways was the chance to be outside and practice, drawing trees and experimenting with different materials
